The exodus of important functionaries from Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam after its massive defeat in the TN general elections continues. In the past few days Vice President R. Mahendran, Santhosh Babu general secretary – headquarters, Padmapriya, A G Maurya, Thangavel, Umadevi, Sekar, and Suresh Iyer have quit the party.
Most of the personalities who distanced themselves from the MNM cited that Kamal's autocratic behaviour and his being misguided by certain people especially former Vijay TV producer Mahendran as the main reason for the defeat
Today yet another important member of the Makkal Needhi Maiam, businessman C.K. Kumaravel has quit the party as well. He has made the shocking allegations that Kamal changed his behaviour since December 2020 and misguided by few people was under the assumption that it is a one-man party.
C.K. Kumaravel has further added that Kamal and his close aides wanted only him to win from Coimbatore South and focussed the entire energy on that and deliberately ignored the other constituencies. According to him, all the eggs were put in one basket and it broke finally. He also lamented angrily that the party which should have made history has been made to read history now by Kamal.
Kumaravel now plans to pursue the path of secular, democratic politics instead of single personality-based politics.
