Although the Centre's decision to withdraw Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes was expected to come as a mixed blessing in the short-term, it didn't immediately occur to most observers that the unconventional move would have a negative impact on releases. As things stand today, the business has been very dull, so much so it's as if two India-Pak ODIs are happening at a time!

As people are spending the liquid cash in their hands with care, avoiding spending on non-urgent things, it's been reported that movie theatres' business has nosedived rather badly.

As a result, the producers are learnt to be re-thinking the release dates of their movies this weekend.

While 'Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo' and 'Intlo Deyyam-Nakem Bhayam' are scheduled to be released on Nov 11 and 12, respectively, the latter is not doing 'sahasam', given the reality. The makers of Naga Chaitanya's movie, however, are in 'sagipo' mode, as is clear from the arrangements for premiers in the US tomorrow.
