Bus with 34 passengers on board hijacked by loan recovery agents

In a bizarre incident, a private bus full of passengers was hijacked by loan recovery agents in Uttar Pradesh's Agra. The bus had 34 passengers on board and was moving towards Gwalior from Gurugram. 

Reportedly, around eight-nine young men claiming to be agents of Shriram Finance, which had financed the vehicle, came in two SUVs took the bus in control after forcing the driver, along with the conductor and the helper, to get down.

The men in SUVs then chased the bus and overtook it at Malpura area. They got into the bus and forcibly brought down the driver and the conductor. They also told the passengers to not scream and assured them that no harm will be done to them, Senior Superintendent of Police, Agra, Babloo Kumar said.  

The men told the bus conductor that the bus owner had not paid eight instalments and hence they were taking the bus away. The incident triggered panic in the area. After a few rounds of dramatic incidents, the men took away the ticket money collected from the passengers and left them unhurt.

After the news of the bus seizure went viral, police swung into action and secured the bus. According to the police, none of the passengers were hurt by the hijackers and they were provided with alternative arrangements to reach their destination.

The UP government in a statement later said the finance company had illegally seized the bus. Regarding the bus incident in Agra, the finance company had illegally seized the bus. The driver, staff and passengers are safe. The bus owner died yesterday and his son is doing the last rites, the statement said.
