In what can only be called extremely tragic, the death of at least 32 people following a bus skidding of a mountain and falling down 500 feet, has been recorded. The accident which took place at Banjar in Kullu district has also injured around 30 people. The private bus which had been heading from Kullu to Gada Ghusheni, consisted mainly of school and college students who were going home. The injured have been taken to hospitals in Banjar and Kullu.

Following the accident, local officials and residents of nearby villages rushed to rescue the victims, forming human chains. Apparently, the driver had lost control of the vehicle when making a sharp turn. According to a witness, there were no crash barriers at the spot of the incident. As many were sitting on top of the bus, the number of casualties may increase.
