Bunny n Cherry Review

Things are getting worse in Tollywood by the day.  When two adults are troubled by their stolen memories and have no option but to live the other one's life for the next three weeks, you expect them to explain their unique situation to their family members and relax or rebel against the perpetrators of their bad health condition.  Here in `Bunny & Cherry,' we have two characters who behave like kids.  One of them can't even think of letting his girl-friend know the situation and instead risks losing her.

A story with a medical miracle (actually, it is an outrageous medical crime by a genius-doctor), this film is a ridiculous narration of two intertwined stories.  Hold your breath, it veers towards something that has nothing to do with the main plot.

There is no conflict whatsoever and the scenes with not even a semblance of emotion either fall flat or are stale.  Rajesh Puli (director) should go back to the school and learn how to show the feelings on a lover's face when she meets her boy-friend after a gap of many days, how he would react when he apparently doesn't love her.

Bunny (played by Prince) is a responsible son.  He works for a company whose manager (Shankar Melkote) is in dire straits, and on weekends, he loves a girl named Kavya.  Cherry (Mahat Raghavendra) is a good-for-nothing son of Posani Krishna Murali.  He abhors his qualification and is adept at picking up quarrels and teaching Brahmanandam a lesson in his free time.  On a fateful day, he happens to ram into a speeding Cherry's car.  A life-threatening accident later, both are criminally and unethically operated upon by Suman and Yandamuri Veerendranath.  After what is called a "medical miracle", the memories  of the both are exchanged!

They both wake up confused at their respective homes (not hospital, mind it), able to recollect everything but confused why their bodies are looking different.  After ending up confusing others and harassing themselves, they meet each other and go to the doctor.  The criminal doctor, wearing a saintly smile on his face, tells them a joke: Another operation might put them in risk, but they may be operated upon after 3 weeks.

One expects any normal person to protest against the crime committed by a brazen doctor against them.  Some silly films being monstrously silly, Bunny and Cherry start behaving as though all hell will break lose if they discuss their problem with their families.  If there wouldn't have been a film had the director put to himself the right questions, then, let it be bluntly said, he would have done well to not to make the film.

That there is no substance becomes clear when a supposedly comic scene in a hotel is stretched with the help of two unfamiliar comedians.

Prince and  Mahat bore us to death.  Having acted in a film like 3G, Prince seemed to have seen a treasure in this story.

Technically, it is zilch.

Verdict:  A film without substance, logic and anything to write home about.  A dud.
