South Korean K-pop act BTS won three of the six categories they were nominated in at the Billboard Music Awards. The band took trophies in Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Selling Song (for “Butter”) categories.
ARMYs are over the moon over this victory of the K-Pop Group. Now, BTS has 12 Billboard Music Awards which is higher than that of Destiny's Child. That group has 11 awards. The record held by Destiny's Child was beaten after 17 long years.
The official Twitter account of Billboard Music Awards shared this good news and congratulated BTS. They wrote, "HUGE CONGRATS to @BTS_twt for their THREE #BBMAs wins."
Meanwhile, BTS members did not attend the BBMAs this year and did not perform. The boys were unable to attend the BBMAs since they were in Las Vegas for their four-day Permission to Dance on Stage performance in April. It’s said to be because the internationally adored singers are presently working on their new anthology album, ‘Proof,’ due out on June 10.
