Britney Spears' Surprise Apology to Justin Timberlake Sparks Unexpected Harmony

Britney Spears's memoir, ‘The Woman in Me’, didn't exactly paint a rosy picture of her ex, Justin Timberlake. She accused him of pressuring her into an abortion, using slang to seem cool, and dumping her via text message. So, it was pretty surprising when she took to Instagram on Monday morning to apologize to some of the people she mentioned in the book.

I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book, she wrote. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about, I am deeply sorry...

Then, in a confusing turn of events, she gave Timberlake a shout-out, saying, I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake's new song 'Selfish' . It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ??? Ps 'Sanctified' is wow too. (Her Instagram account was later set to private.)

It's unclear what Spears was trying to achieve with this post. Maybe she was trying to encourage her fans to be nicer to Timberlake? After the book came out, he was bombarded with criticism and had to disable his Instagram comments.

In the book, Spears claimed that the video for Timberlake's 2002 hit Cry Me a River made her look like a slut who broke America's golden boy's heart, when she was actually comatose in Louisiana. Timberlake hasn't directly addressed the book, but he did say no disrespect before performing the song in December, which some people thought was a nod to Spears's comments.

Fans also pressured Timberlake to apologize in 2021 after the documentary *Framing Britney Spears* came out. He eventually posted a vague apology on Instagram, but it didn't satisfy everyone. When his new song Selfish dropped, Spears fans decided to protest by streaming her song of the same name, which landed her at the No. 1 spot on iTunes. Just another reminder that Britney's fans are a force to be reckoned with!
