It was on 25 August 2007 that two blasts in Hyderabad shook the city and shocked the country. These were huge blasts that killed 44 and maimed many more. They took place at the famous Gokul Chat eatery in Koti and during an event at Lumbini Park.
On Tuesday, a court convicted two Indian Mujahideen men, Aneeq Shafeeq Sayeed and Ismail Chaudhary, in the bomb blast cases by a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court. The quantum of punishment will be announced by the court on coming Monday.
The blasts occurred just months after the Mecca Masjid blasts in Hyderabad. It was discovered that the August 2007 blasts would have been much more deadly had bomb not be defused at Dilsukh Nagar. It could have potentially killed 100 people.
