The Malayalam film industry for the past few years has been dominated by the two great actors - Mammootty and Mohanlal. The actors would have at least three films release every year. They managed to establish their firm grip in the industry.

Now Prithviraj is slowly managing to break the monopoly of these two prominent actors. Prithviraj had a successful outing in Vargam, Vasthavam and Classmates last year. Similarly a couple of films went on to do good business in Tamil Nadu.

As a result several production houses are evincing keen interest to work with the young actor. Already a successful actor in Tamil, Prithviraj is doing a couple of Malayalam movies now including one with Padhmakumar. Also it is reported that director Shafi is getting ready to direct Prithviraj in his new film.
