Telangana has decided to do away with SSC exams altogether. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said that Class 10 students will be promoted directly to Intermediate.

Therefore, no exams will be held at all. A directive will be sent to all schools to assign grades to students based on their performance in internal exams.

The development comes in the wake of the High Court of Telangana recently asking the government not to conduct SSC exams in GHMC, where coronavirus cases are growing in a big way. The government was not willing to go by this suggestion of the HC. The court, in fact, asked the KCR government why it was not adopting Punjab's grades system. This is what the government has done today.

Parents and students have been subjected to severe stress for weeks. They have finally received a reprieve.
