Nearly a month after 'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny Boyle said goodbye to the 25th James Bond film (allegedly due to creative differences), director Cary Fukunaga of 'Beasts of No Nation' fame has been roped in.
"We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure," producers Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig said on Thursday.
"Waking up at 3:45am and seeing that Cary Fukunaga just signed on to direct the next Bond movie is a classic "Wait, am I actually dreaming?" moment. Never thought I'd see them give that job to an American," said one Jacob Hall on Twitter.
"That's the same Cary Fukunaga of 'True Detective', 'Beasts Of No Nation' and nearly-directing IT fame. I'll be watching his new Netflix show (starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill) with even more interest. Very, very interesting," said another.
The magnum opus will go on the floors from March 4 next year. What is the release date? February 14, 2020.
