The Prime Minister's Office on Tuesday said that Narendra Modi will be addressing the nation at 8 PM (May 12). This comes a day after the PM held a video conference with the Chief Ministers of various States.
This is going to be Modi's first address since the announcement of Lockdown 2.0 in April. Lockdown 3.0 didn't see a prior address by the PM. The same is scheduled to end on May 17.
Modi's 8 PM addresses are notorious to ring in one or another unusual announcement. Lockdown 1.0, announced on March 23, came at 8 PM.
During Monday's video con with the PM, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao is reported to have urged the Centre not to restart inter-state passenger train services. KCR, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, and Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray reportedly went against the lifting of the lockdown even after May 17.
