An FIR has been registered against Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi in Shivamogga, Karnataka. This is reportedly over the Congress party's recent tweet on the PM-CARES fund. The "objectionable" tweet was made on May 11, allegedly by Sonia.
"The FIR identifies her as the handler of the social media account," reports ANI.
"The case has been registered under Sections 153 and 505 (1)(B) of the Indian Penal Code, which relate to wantonly provoking people and inciting them to commit offence against any other class or community," reports PTI.
Following the FIR, Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar has written to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. In the letter, he demanded the withdrawal of the FIR registered against Sonia Gandhi.
