Earlier today, it was reported that Favipiravir, an antiviral drug, has been found to be effective in treating coronavirus patients. Indian pharma giant Glenmark has got approval to manufacture and market the drug.

Glenmark is the first pharma company in the country to get such approval from the Drugs Controller General of India for “restricted emergency use”.

The drug is recommended for "mild to moderate Covid-19 cases". It will be launched sometime next week. By the end of this month, the tablets will be available at medical shops.

Each tablet, whose name is FabiFlu, will cost Rs 103.

Since it's an oral drug, the patient won't need the help of a nurse or doctor to consume it.
