It was recently reported that a prequel to the 'Baahubali' franchise movies is going to be made by Netflix.  It will tell the story of Sivagami (played originally by Ramya Krishna) based on 'The Rise Of Sivagami', a novel written by Anand Neelakantan. 

The news is that the prequel has been titled 'Baahubali: Before the Beginning' and it will be co-directed by Deva Katta, Praveen Sattaru and Rajamouli.  It will be a two-season order, the first of which will have 9 episodes.  It will be streamed on Netflix sometime in 2019.  

Rajamouli has told a news agency that he is very excited. "With Netflix as our partner, we have the opportunity to create a rich and riveting series and take this quintessential Indian epic to the world, which is very gratifying to me as a storyteller," he added.

"Power, politics and intrigue find themselves juxtaposed against the rise of Mahishmati - from being a city-state to an empire," says a synopsis of the series put out by Netflix, which has teamed up with Arka Media Works and Rajamouli for the big-budgeted series.
