We have seen instances of a few scenes being reshot. We have seen an actor being removed in the middle of production works and his or her scenes being reshot. But here is a rare case. An entire film is going to be reshot!
It's 'Varma', the Tamil remake of 'Arjun Reddy'. The film stars Dhruv (Vikram's son) as the hero. Its teaser was released last year and it was so tasteless and lifeless that many people trolled it like crazy.
E4 Entertainment, the film's production house, has decided to reshoot the entire film. Dhruv will be its hero. But it will have a new director (goodbye Bala), new heroine, new technicians and a new screenplay too perhaps. "We are not at all happy with the final version of 'Varma'. Due to various creative differences, we have decided not to release the film at all. Instead, we will start afresh and shoot a new Tamil version of 'Arjun Reddy'. All this is going to cost us heavily. But our love to see this cult film ('Arjun Reddy') being remade right has not diminished in any way," the banner today said.
'Varma' was directed by Bala. His sensibilities are totally different. They are not apt for a film like 'Arjun Reddy'. Had the banner not signed him up, maybe, a day like this wouldn't have come.
