The YSRCP government has on Saturday announced that it is suspending the SSC exams in Andhra Pradesh. All students will be promoted to Intermediate.
"The exams were scheduled to happen from July 10. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has cancelled the exams in view of Covid-19 risk. The health of students is of primary concern to the government," Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh said.
The announcement comes days after the TDP and Jana Sena demanded that the government should do away with SSC exams because of the obvious health risks. Parents and students were in a state of confusion for weeks. The suspense has finally come to an end.
At the same time, supplementary exams for Intermediate have been canceled. All students have been promoted regardless of their Failed status.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao took a similar decision earlier this month. The pandemic is on the rise in Telangana and, in retrospect, it was the most sensible decision.
