Actor Irrfan Khan who was admitted to an ICU following a "colon infection" on Tuesday evening breathed his last today at a hospital in Mumbai. The 53-year-old actor had fallen ill suddenly on Tuesday and was rushed to the hospital due to his rapidly deteriorating health. The actor had recently returned to acting after his 2 years of battle against neuroendocrine tumour since 2018. The 53-year-old was survived by his wife Sutapa and sons - Babil an Ayan.

Irrfan, who made his Bollywood debut with Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay in 1988, has also been part of many Hollywood projects, from 'Jurassic World' to 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Best known for his performances in 'Piku' and 'Paan Singh Tomar', the actor's last film was 'Angrezi Medium', which hit the screens before the lockdown.

It may be noted that Irrfan’s mother Saeeda Begum passed away in Jaipur, a week ago. The actor paid his last respects to his mother through a video conference, due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions in India.
