Getting ambitious. That's the word. After the phenomenal success of Srimanthudu in the US market, Mahesh Babu is understandably aiming to steal a march over everyone else in the US market with his family entertainer Brahmotsavam. The genre only makes it possible for him to reach out to the overseas Telugu audience, who are said to love softcore entertainers to the core. The BO collections of Srimanthudu, Oopiri and 24 recently, are two of the bright examples that come to ones mind.
According to certain reports, the makers/distributors are planning to hold premiere shows by dime a dozen. Remember that Classic Entertainments had bought the overseas distribution rights of this Srikanth Addala directorial for a whopping Rs. 13 cr.
Mahesh's last was a phenomenal hit in the US, standing next only to Baahubali. Baahubali collected $6 million last year. After this, Srimanthudu at $2.89 million holds the record for being the next highest grosser. The third highest position was held by Attarintiki Daredi, at $1.89 mllion. Needless to say, Brahmotsavam might cross the $3 million mark easily, given the humongous release on May 19 (that is, the premieres day).
