The trailer for 'Brahmastra' is a complete visual feast. Ranbir Kapoor's Shiva has supernatural abilities to not be harmed by fire. Spectacular visuals follow the voice-over (the Telugu version has narration by Chiranjeevi), the key characters, and the heroic protagonist.
Going by the trailer, director Ayan Mukerji has sought to create a new cinematic universe that borrows material from Indian history. That doesn't mean that 'Brahmastra' is set in an ancient or medieval era. The story is very much set in the modern world. The title Brahmastra represents the power of fire, with which the protagonist Shiva has a mysterious connection. His relationship with Isha, his new girlfriend, is snapped for a while.
High on elements such as fantasy, adventure, and themes like good vs evil, love and hope, the film is going to be a gigantic ride of events and emotions. Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt have played positive characters as much as Akkineni Nagarjuna, who has a presence in the trailer.
The trailer is a consummate visual spectacle of sorts. Amrita Mahal Nakai's production design looks larger-than-life. V Manikandan, Pankaj Kumar, and Sudeep Chatterjee have cranked the camera.
The pan-India flick will hit the screens on September 9 in multiple Indian languages.
