'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' has exceeded expectations at the box office. After enjoying a very good opening weekend, this Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directed film managed to sustain really well in weekdays. Due to very good word of mouth, there was limited fall post a healthy weekend. All of this meant that the film indeed was 'running' at the box office, hence bringing in over 53 crores at the box office.

Now this is a very good number indeed because on it's release, even a lifetime total over the 50 crore mark would have been considered good for 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' which has Farhan Akhtar as the solo lead. However the way things stand today, the film could well be trying its luck to aim much higher and set it's sight on 'Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara' which had ended it's run at the 90 crore mark.

The way this film has trended, it would have been a good candidate for such higher milestone. However, since there are multiple films releasing every week and then August is dominated with several biggies, it would be a stretch.

Meanwhile when it comes to records, 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' is already breaking quite a few. For starters, it has now surpassed the lifetime business of Rakeysh's 'Rang De Basanti' in 7 days flat. Back then in 2006, the film had taken 11 weeks to hit the half-century (50 crores) mark and though moolah accumulation is much faster in the current times, for those fond of trivia, this is indeed a moment to cherish.

The films that won't have much to cherish are 'Boyss Toh Boyss Hain', 'Shorts', 'Sixteen' and 'Tara - The Journey of Love & Passion'. Each of these poorly released films is a box office disaster.
