To create the Noida Film City, a group headed by film producer Boney Kapoor outbid rivals like actor Akshay Kumar and producer Bhushan Kumar. As per the Times of India, this massive project will span 230 acres along the Yamuna Expressway, barely 6 km from the future Noida International Airport.
Among the amenities in the envisaged Noida Film City will be a helipad, a cinema museum, and a film university. Presenting their proposals to Uttar Pradesh government officials in June were a number of organizations, including Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited (T-Series), Supersonic Technobuild Private Limited (which includes Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films and Akshay Kumar's Cape of Good Films LLP), Bayview Projects LLP (backed by Boney Kapoor, real estate company Bhutani Group, and Noida Cyber Park), and 4 Lions Films Private Limited (backed by filmmaker KC Bokadia and others).
Selecting to build the greenfield project via a public-private partnership (PPP) format, Bayview Projects LLP came out as the highest revenue-sharing bidder. With a January 5, 2024, deadline, the bidding procedure started on September 30, 2023. This was the third time the project had tried to draw investors; the first two had been unsuccessful.
Bayview Projects LLP would acquire the site in June by signing a concession agreement with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. Six months from the time of agreement signing, construction is supposed to start.
A pet project of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, Noida Film City is planned to be an international hub covering more than 1,000 acres, of which 230 acres are set aside in the first phase. Of these, 75 acres are set out for commercial development and 155 acres are set aside for the core film industry. Situated in Yamuna Expressway Authority Sector 21, the project seeks to become a top location for film production and other activities.
