Ranbir Kapoor, who has been time and again loved by audiences for his superb acting skills in films like 'Barfi!', 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', etc is now playing a gangster from the 1960s in 'Bombay Velvet' that also stars Anushka Sharma. This is the first time that they have been paired together in a film.
"It was a challenge for me to play the part and I love challenging roles. I jumped at the script when Anurag gave it to me to read. I wanted to do the film instantly," says Ranbir.
Anurag says,"RK has pulled off the role of a gangster of the 60s with ease. He is an incredible actor who gets into the skin of the character and makes it his own. He really becomes Johnny Balraj in the film. He is a gifted actor, a rare kind of talent that comes once in a generation." Ranbir plays a gangster who is mentored by Kaizad Khambatta played by Karan Johar. Kaizad makes him the owner of Bombay Velvet, a club that is the seat of corruption driven by Khambatta and Johnny.
'Bombay Velvet' releases this Friday.
