Debutant director Ummer Karikkad is getting ready with his movie, curiously titled as `Bombay Mittai'. A humorous take on youth who believe in superstitions the movie stars Jagathy Sreekumar, Vinu Mohan, and Harisree Ashokan in key roles.

The story begins with two friends, Suresh (Vinu Mohan) and Sulaiman (Harisree Ashokan) trying to make a fast buck through some shady dealings, including that of Snake Pearl or 'Naagmani' which is expected to bring fortunes. Although they try every trick in the book, they are unable to strike gold. The two hatch a plan to find this pearl to sell to a millionaire. As the duo gets into trouble one by one, they hear about Mallika Mansoor's (Amar Singh) murder and that there is a reward for anyone who has any information regarding the murder. The duo decides to dupe the cop named 'Poocha Police' (Jagadheesh) and claim the reward.

Bombay Mittayi's' story takes an interesting turn when a young journalist Rehna (Neelambari), Mansoor's daughter who lives in north India decides to go back to her home town in South India to uncover the mystery behind the murder. She very well identifies that Suresh and Sulaiman are bluffing for money with their false stories. The duo of Suresh and Sulaiman now reach a point where they get entwined in a cold-blooded murder. That is when the story takes some rather intriguing twists and turns. `Bombay Mittaai' also takes a look into the superstitions of third world countries that is looked upon with interest in the west.

Lal Kannan cranks the camera for the film. Neelambari Perumal, the daughter of Varadaraja Perumal, former Chief Minister of North East Provincial Council in Sri Lanka, plays the female lead in the movie. "This is my first film and is something special for me. In fact, I am a bit worried also. My family is right now in Sri Lanka. They ask me about the release of the movie, whenever they call. They too are eagerly waiting", says the young actor. U. Pradeep, who is co-producing the movie with Rajesh Malakka under the banner of IMM Films, says they were on the lookout for a Bollywood actor to don the role of Mansoor, when a friend suggested Amar Singh's name. And shortly they were more lucky to have Bollywood senior star Dimple Kapadia, also in the movie.

Well-known musician Paris Chandran who has been associated with Shakespearean theatre has scored the music. "There are five songs including one in Qawwali-style. It is for the first time that I am doing songs for a Malayalam commercial movie", says Chandran who had set music to lyrics penned by Rafeeq Ahmed.

Plans are also on to dub the movie in Hindi. The Malayalam version of 'Bombay Mittaai' is expected to be on theatres by next month.
