Boman Irani: From Dr Asthana to Sardar Lucky Singh

Dr Asthana of ÂMunnabhai MBBS gave a new lease of life to the actor in Boman Irani. The photographer turned actor won acclaim by doing several prestigious theatre productions like ÂMahatma Versus GandhiÂ. A few off beat films won him the ÂGood Actor tag, but it was ÂMunnabhai  that really changed his fortunes. For after doing a string of films, today he charges something in the range of Rs 40 lakh/ per film. (ItÂs a colossal amount considering many of the mainstream heroes and heroines get less than that).
Boman Irani was recently seen in a brief role in Naseeruddin ShahÂs directorial venture ÂYun Hota Toh Kya HotaÂ, a role he did only because of his immense regard for Naseer the brilliant actor. As of now, he has a few big releases coming up shortly. First up is Raju HiraniÂs ÂLage Raho Munnabhai where he is playing Sardar Lucky Singh. For playing this character Irani actually lived with a Sikh family to understand their real mannerisms so that he avoids playing a caricature of what Punjabis are supposed to be. Next will be Farhan AkhtarÂs ÂDon where he is enacting the important role of the Inspector played by Iftikhar in the earlier version.
It seems thereÂs no stopping Boman Irani who is still madly obsessed with his first love of photography. He is going digital now. Keeping up with times .Keep it up dude!
