Coming to the end of the year, looking back at 2015, the year seemed eventful for Bollywood. The year has clearly taught us the golden rule of success, Good content is the king.
Gone are the days when audiences would accept a certain genre, they are now open to various genres and look out for movies which are promoted with honesty.
The movies which scored well at the box office include 'Piku', 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns', 'ABCD 2', 'Baahubali', 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo', 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha', 'Talvar', 'NH10', 'Margarita with a straw', 'Manjhi', 'Hunterr', 'Badlapur', 'Tamasha', 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Dilwale'.
'Piku', portrayed the cute relationship between a father (Amitabh Bachchan) and daughter (Deepika Padukone) won everyones heart. Irrfan Khan`s adorable performance as the car rental agent who is stuck between the two attracted audiences to the theatre.
As the sequel to 'Tanu weds Manu' hit the theaters the audience garnered the movie with immense appreciation and love. The movie had created an audience way before its release, which clearly showed in the box office numbers.
The 3D dance film 'ABCD 2' starring Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor explored their journey as they compete for the World Dance Championship received an amazing response from the audiences, reflecting the same in its numbers.
Prabhas's Indian bilingual epic historical fiction 'Baahubali' earned 118 crores in the Hindi market alone. The magnum opus of the movie contributing to its huge success has garnered an audience already awaiting the release of the sequel.
'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', the story of a man with a magnanimous spirit as he helps a mute girl from Pakistan return home touched hearts. Salman Khan's this movie gripped its audience from the first day and became one of the most loved films of all times entering the 300 crore clubs.
Salman Khan`s much awaited Diwali release 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo', opened to an amazing start and became the most entertaining family drama of all time.
The romantic comedy, 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' received overwhelmingly positive reviews while it saw excellent growth in its box-office.
'Talvar' garnered much appreciation and clearly evolved as the best reviewed film of the year. Talvar was the first movie to show an upward trend in its box office numbers post a national holiday. The movie based on the Noida Double Murder received a rousing response at multiple film festivals.
Anushka Sharma's award winning performance in NH10 stood gunning for women safety and empowerment, surely made audiences go towards the NH10 way!
'Margarita with a Straw', the story of a rebellious young woman with cerebral palsy on her journey of self-discovery, surely, is a film with a lot of heart and a powerful performance from Kalki Koechlin, which was much loved by the audiences.
The enchanted performance's of Nawazuddin Siddique and Radhika Apte in 'Manjhi-The Mountain Man' received huge critical acclaim and was much appreciated by the audiences.
'Hunterrr', a small budget film showcased the coming of age of a guy which was extremely relate-able for the younger audiences, this lead to more footfalls in the theater which in turn resulted in good numbers, for a film of this kind.
'Badlapur', a revenge drama with strong performances and fantastic writing lead to immense critical acclaim and good box office numbers.
The golden couple Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone brought back crackling chemistry with the one most awaited movie of the year, 'Tamasha' which was extensively talked about. The movie became the most buzzing projects of the year.
2015 ended with the most awaited big screen clash - when Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Bajirao Mastani' and Rohit Shetty's multi-starrer 'Dilwale' released on same day. 'Bajirao Mastani' stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra while 'Dilwale' has Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in lead. Both are still running at the theaters and facing stiff competition at the box office.
