Bollywood stars add glitz to Nepal business launches

Nepalese businessmen are beginning to rely on Bollywood stars to launch new products or projects and the latest such venture is Kathmandu's four-in-one movie theatre Gopi Krishna.

As a kind of curtain raiser to a move to add three new screens next year to the multiplex, Gopi Krishna has roped in Mumbai's model-turned-hunk hero Arjun Rampal and heroine Perizaad Zorabian for a special film screening Saturday.

Arjun and Perizaad are probably two of the most-watched faces in Nepal now with four of the six most known theatres screening their new film "Ek Ajnabee".

Gopi Krishna, one of them, hit upon the idea of a lucky draw.

Moviegoers who flock to the theatre from Dec 10 to 16 can take part in it with 104 of them getting an opportunity to watch "Ek Ajnabee" again Saturday evening in the company of the two Bollywood stars.

The show will be followed by a lavish dinner at the five-star Hotel de l'Annapurna. While tickets for the gala are priced at Rs.2,500, the lucky draw winners get to enjoy the dinner free.

This is the second business gimmick in less than two months featuring Bollywood stars.

In October, a Nepali computer company flew in Bollywood oomph girl Mallika Sherawat to launch a new personal computer.

Yamaha's new brand ambassador John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan, bagged by Surya Nepal, ITC's joint venture, to launch its John Player brand of men's wear are among the Bollywood faces familiar in Nepal, appearing on billboards and advertisements in dailies and magazines.
