Bollywood hinges its hopes on Akshay Kumar's 'Gabbar Is Back'

Finally the D-Day is all set to arrive. Ever since the First Poster of 'Gabbar Is Back' was unveiled, there has been good build up to the promotional campaign of the Akshay Kumar starrer. The film has been given a platform where it has established its solid standing after some good innovation was brought into play in weeks leading to the release. It is a biggie by all means and also an acid test for first time director Krish who has enjoyed some good show down South. With his first ever Bollywood outing, he is expected to score too if the promo is any indication.

All eyes are now on Akshay Kumar to deliver for this film which appears to be a powerful dramatic action entertainer in the offering. In the year so far, the only film which has seen good collections to its name is Baby which was also an Akshay Kumar starrer. It was a song-less affair and still went on to score well on the basis of good content and solid word of mouth. Now Gabbar Is Back benefits from good songs to its credit and since the dose of action is much higher here, one looks forward to a much more commercial affair that would be grabbed by the Akshay Kumar starrer.

All of this means that the film is all set to score the highest opening of the year, hence leaving behind the likes of Fast and Furious, Roy and Avengers which had just about managed to cross the 10 crore mark. Gabbar Is Back is all set to score much higher, courtesy its solid penetration expected in the single screen theaters. While it is a given that the film would take a good opening, it would be interesting to see how solid does the content turn out to be, which would ensure a long run and hence bring industry out of the doldrums that it currently is finding itself in.

Another release of the week is Sabki Bajegi Band which is arriving with bare minimum promotion. Currently the film is struggling with gaining good shows across multiplexes of the country. All hopes for the film hinge on some strong critical acclaim and rapid word of mouth as it arrives in a month when there is a plethora of biggies hitting the screens week after week.
