Ever since the Narcotics Crime Bureau started investigating into Sushant Singh Rajput's death, Bollywood has been alleged to be mired in the crosshairs of a "drug mafia" by some observers. As per a few commentators, a section of the Hindi film industry is scared that its dirty secrets will be out soon.

Columnist Abhijit Majumder, writing for Firstpost, says that Bollywood is in for a clean-up now that the investigating agencies are "hot on the chase". The CBI, the ED, the Customs and other agencies are at it. The agencies have deployed some of the "best officers with stellar Bollywood tracking record" to investigate into the Rajput's death.

The columnist writes that Bollywood's rot owes its origin to gangster Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim. The latter, in particular, used to hold his sway on Hindi film stars for several years, thanks to his financing abilities and riches. "He slept with a new starlet almost every night. He presented them with expensive gifts," the columnist adds.

Commenting on the developments, film journalist Soumyadipta tweeted that it will be a big achievement if the drug cartels of Bollywood are caught. "Consumption of drugs in small quantities won't land you in jail in India. It will destroy your health. But those who deal in drugs and supply them are criminals according to most countries in the world, including India," he added.
