Popular Bollywood choreographer/director/actor Ganesh Acharya, who has choreographed films like Rang De Basanti, Padmaavat, Golmaal, Sanju, etc, has been arrested by the Mumbai police after he was accused of sexually harassing a female choreographer.
Demanding justice, the victim reportedly stated, "I want justice; I want Ganesh Acharya to go to jail. He should be boycotted from the industry. He has been misusing his power." She further added that the choreographer used to watch pornographic videos on his laptop and would increase the volume whenever a woman walked in. "One day I visited his office. He turned his laptop towards me, asked me to enjoy the video and pulled me towards him. I got away and warned him." she reportedly stated.
In response to her statement, Ganesh Acharya said, "I don't know this girl. After her complaints I found she was part of a group of dancers I worked with in 2007. She is doing all this as she was expelled from the choreographer's association and is now the committee member of a rival dancers' association, which is against me. She had sent letters and notices to me, to IFTCA, making false allegations against me of harassing her." Following this, Acharya got her IFTCA membership suspended and also issued letters to other choreographers in the industry asking them to not work with her.
Apart from this, a few other women have also reportedly accused the choreographer of molestation. Ganesh Acharya was last seen on screen in Shah Rukh Khan's Zero, directed by Aanand. L. Rai.
