Bollywood celebs call out Layer Shot perfume for its lewd adverts

Several Bollywood stars including Farhan Akhtar, Richa Chadha and Swara Bhaskar recently took to their social media outlets to call out a perfume brand for its distasteful ads. Apparently, two recently released ads of perfume brand Layer Shot joked about gang rapes and trivialised the issue. The ads were certainly tone deaf about one of biggest problem that women in our country face and they recieved severe backlash from netizens for the same.

Talking about the same, Farhan Akhtar tweeted, "What incredibly tasteless and twisted minds it must take to think up, approve and create these stinking body spray 'gang rape' innuendo ads!! Shameful."

On the other hand, actress Richa Chadha questioned the thought process of people responsible for such lewd adverts. She wrote, "This ad is not an accident. To make an ad, a brand goes through several layers of decision making. Creatives, script, agency, client, casting... does every everyone think rape is a joke? Revelatory!"

Actress Swara Bhaskar tweeted, "A teenage girl was gang raped in Hyderabad-such incidents happen daily in India.. companies like @layerr_shot choose to make TV adverts joking abt & 'cool-ifying' rape & gangrape. Beyond disgusting! Not just tone deaf, also criminal! Absolutely shameful! What agency created it?"
