A few days back, Mahesh Bhatt, filmmaker and father of popular Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, received an anonymous extortion call, where a person demanded a money of INR 50 lakhs, failing which, threatened to 'fire bullets' on his wife and daughter.

Mr. Bhatt, who disregarded the matter as a prank call, later received several death threats over SMS and WhatsApp texts. A police case has been registered and investigation is being done, while Alia's family remains under tightened security
