The Hindi-dubbed version of 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' was slated to hit the screens on January 26. But its theatrical release was called off. Why? Producer Manish Shah has revealed the reason. Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan's threat stalled the movie's release in theatres, as per him.
Here is what happened. Kartik is the hero of 'Shehzada', the Hindi remake of 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo'. He felt that if 'AVPL' is dubbed and released in Hindi, his Hindi remake's business will be affected. So, he told the producers of 'Shehzada' that if the Hindi-dubbed version of 'AVPL' releases in theatres, he will walk out of 'Shehzada'.
This made Allu Aravind, who is one of the producers of 'Shehzada', convince the producer (Manish Shah) of the Hindi-dubbed version of 'AVPL' to back off.
The producer Manish Shah has claimed that he has made losses to the tune of Rs 20 Cr because of the decision to call off the theatrical release of Hindi 'AVPL'. He was ready to incur the loss because the producers of 'Shehzada' who are his friends would have lost Rs 40 Cr had Kartik walked out of the project. He stalled the Hindi AVPL's theatrical release as a goodwill gesture.
