At a time when a drug scandal has visited Tollywood, a Bollywood actor has opened up about how he was addicted to drugs in the past. He has moved on and his experience and suggestions are an eye-opener.

"While others who took drugs got fed up with it, I, unfortunately, got addicted. While I could chalk up my primary encounter with other drugs -- marijuana and hashish -- to experiments, the inquisitiveness led to recurrent use over time," Prateik Babbar, the son of Raj Babbar and Smita Patil, has written.

"But, it seems I was God's special child. He was not going to give up on me, even if the world did. A drug overdose made me sit up and take note of the monster I had become. I'm not religious, but at that moment, I encountered my first experience of spirituality," the 30-year-old actor has penned in a moving article.

Giving hope to addicts who are struggling to get rid of their addiction, Prateik says that it's important to seek rehabilitation and not allow oneself to be destroyed by drugs.
