Superstar Rajnikanth ,after scoring a hit with the Karthik Subbaraj directorial Petta, is currently acting in his 167th movie Darbar directed by AR Murugadoss, who had last directed the political thriller Sarkar starring Thalapathy Vijay and Keerthy Suresh.

Currently team Darbar is shooting important sequences featuring Superstar in locations in Mumbai including Bandra, and it is said that the scenes are being shot in a college. It was recently revealed that Bollywood actor Prateek Babbar is the villain in Darbar and now another Bollywood actor has joined the team.

Popular Bollywood supporting actor Jatin Sarna known for his acting in the hit Netflix series Sacred Games  has been cast in an important role in Darbar. Darbar also stars Lady Superstar Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas and Yogi Babu and has music by Anirudh, and is produced by Lyca Productions.
