Apparently 2012 would be the only year to witness the maximum number of sequels. Several hit movies had its second (or even third) innings hitting the big screens this year. A recap of those new filmy versions -

1. Housefull 2 - A sequel of 2010 film ‘Housefull’, the second version was much bigger in cast and also repeated the success story from the previous one.

2. Jannat 2 - In the sequel to the 2008, lead hero Emraan Hashmi had new co-stars, the hot Esha Gupta and talented Randeep Hooda. While the ‘Jannat’ was about cricket match fixing, the sequel was about arms smuggling. Like the original, ‘Jannat 2’ too made a fine impression at the box office.

3. Kya Super Kool Hain Hum - While ‘Kyaa Kool Hai Hum’ was directed by Sangeeth Sivan, the sequel was helmed by Sachin Yardi. The film garnered much attention for its double meaning, raunchy jokes but failed to impress the critics, getting the movie mixed reviews.

4. Jism 2 - 2012 would go down in the books of B-town for giving an entry to the hot, international pornstar Sunny Leone, courtesy ‘Jism 2’. While ‘Jism’ made Bipasha Basu the hottest property in 2003, the film’s sequel made a nationwide sensation out of Ms Leone. Producer Pooja Bhatt stepped into direction for first time with ‘Jism 2’ which featured Randeep Hooda and Arunoday Singh as male lead.

5. Raaz 3 - The only film in this sequel list which is actually the third version of its original one. Starring Emraan Hashmi, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta, the 3D supernatural thriller was directed by Vikram Bhatt.

6. Bhoot Returns - Although it didn’t make as much ‘scary’ impression like the earlier version, ‘Bhoot Returns’ made news for the return of ‘Dil Se’ beauty Manisha Koirala.

7. 1920: Evil Returns - Yet another sequel from the Bhatts’ camp. Starring Aftab Shivdasani, Tia Bajpai and Vidya Malvade, ‘1920: Evil Returns’ garnered below average response.
