Thousands of Superstar Rajinikanth fans gathered in Solingar, a locality in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu for the Malarattum Manidha Neyam` conference which was held amid huge fanfare. Large cutouts of Superstar were omnipresent across the event venue. Rajini fans kept gathering at the place since morning for the event that started in the evening.

As the name suggests, the main motive of the event was to distribute welfare measures for the needy under the name of the much loved Superstar and also to celebrate the completion of 40 years of the Rajinikanth in Kollywood and the 65th Birthday of the star that went past in December.

Many celebrities from Kollywood graced the event. Veteran Film Producer Kalaipuli.S.Thanu who conferred the fitting Superstar title to Rajinikanth way back in 1980s was one of the prominent guests. He is also producing the star`s upcoming film Kabali`. Rajinikanth`s close friend Rajabahadur who has appeared in a few films of the star was also a chief guest. Thanu and Rajabahadur unveiled the portrait of Iyakkunar Sigaram K.Balachander, the filmmaker who introduced Rajinikanth to films and passed away in December 2014.

Noted filmmaker and producer N.Lingusamy, actors Bobby Simha, Karunas, Karunakaran and Jeeva took part in the event not just as Kollywood celebrities but also as Rajini fans. Karunas the newly elected Vice-President of Nadigar Sangam has acted with Rajinikanth in Baba` and Enthiran`. Karunakaran and Jeeva have acted in Linga` and Kochadaiiyaan` respectively.
