Black Fungus: Telangana readies nodal center

The Telangana government on Saturday said that the Government ENT Hospital in Koti will be the Nodal Center for Black Fungus cases in the State. It may be noted that the State is witnessing a growing number of Black Fungus cases among those recovered from covid-19. Those who use steroids recklessly are susceptible to the infection

Dr K Ramesh Reddy, who is the Director of Medical Education, today said that SD Eye Hospital will chip in with medical services if eyes are affected in a patient.

As with drugs like Remdesivir, Liposomal Amphotericin B is said to be in short supply to treat Black Fungus. Even alternative medicines are not in good supply.

Judicious use of steroids, antibiotics and antifungals, and use of clean humidifiers has been advised for covid-19 patients.
