Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has on Monday lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Alwar gangrape case (Rajasthan). Recently, a Dalit woman was brutally raped in Rajasthan. Modi has slammed the Congress party (which rules the State) over its failure to get the police arrest the culprits, alleging that the ruling party has ignored the issue because of vote bank politics.
Mayawati today got personal when she stated that BJP's female leaders are always scared whenever the PM meets their husbands. "They fear that their husbands too might abandon them just like Modi has abandoned his wife," the BSP leader said. "It is extremely shameful. How can he respect others' sisters and wives when he has left his own wife for political gains?" she asked.
In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is fighting a fierce battle with the SP-BSP-RLD combine. The political slugfests are flying thick and thin this election season. Only one phase of elections is left.
