During the oath-taking of Members of Parliament in the new Lok Sabha, several BJP MPs were conspicuous in raising 'Jai Sri Ram' slogans a few times. When Union Ministers Babul Supriyo and Debashree Choudhury were taking the oath, the MPs made it a point to raise the slogan that the saffron party has politicized since the Ayodhya movement era.
The slogans were aimed at speaking truth to the power of Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. The CM has reportedly been objecting to the raising of the slogan in the State by "outsiders".
Be that as it may, some voices have spoken out against the behaviour of the MPs. Navneet Kaur Rana, independent MP from Amravati in Maharashtra, feels that Parliament is not the right place for such slogans. "Temples are there for it. All gods are same but targeting someone and taking that name, it's wrong," she said.
