BJP MLA, floor leader and firebrand Hindutva leader from Telangana T Raja Singh has faced a setback from Facebook. The Goshamahal MLA's account has been suspended by FB for alleged hate speech.
Reporting the news, the Wall Street Journal on Thursday said, "Facebook has banned a politician from India’s ruling party (referring to the BJP) for violating its policies against hate speech, amid a growing political storm over its handling of extremist content on its platform. This is an about-face for the company and one that will be politically tricky."
It's believed that several leaders of the BJP have been given leeway by Facebook.
Meanwhile, Raja Singh recently approached the Cyberabad Police with the claim that he faces a threat to his life. The saffron leader has sought protection in this regard. "Couple of days back I have received a letter thru @CPHydCity stating I have a threat to my life & asked me to move in Bullet Proof Car only. In this regard today I have met #Telangana Home Minister Sri Md Mahmood Ali & asked him from which terror organization I have threat (sic)," he tweeted.
