BJP loses Jharkhand, JMM+Congress to form government

The verdict of the people of Jharkhand is out. The incumbent BJP government has been thrown out of power. The JMM-Congress alliance will now form the 'sarkar'. The two parties are joined by the RJD, which had fought the election with them.

A hung assembly was projected by some pollsters. However, that is not happening.

The BJP has lost despite its vote share being on the higher side. This is the 5th state assembly election in 2 years where BJP is falling short of a clear majority by under 1-2% vote deficit! This pattern has repeated in Jharkhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka since May 2018. Sorry, but these are pure data-strategic errors, says data analyst Praveen Patil.

With the saffron party losing Jharkhand, one more State slips through its hands. Last December, the BJP lost Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Just recently, it lost Maharashtra despite winning the State with Shiv Sena.
