Producer D Suresh Babu has said that the BJP is over-reacting over the "anti-GST" dialogues in 'Mersal' (to be released as 'Adirindhi' in Telugu).

"We have hundreds of films which criticize the government. 'Mersal' was passed by the Censor Board. If you have a problem, write to the Board. Political parties conveniently jump the gun to gain publicity. But the BJP is getting negative publicity because of the politics they are playing over 'Mersal'. I don't understand why the party is over-reacting and gaining a self-goal. It has already lost it in trying to defend itself," the renowned film personality told a national TV channel.

Suresh Babu, who is an apolitical person, has said what he feels despite the fact that his father, late D Ramanaidu, was a TDP MP between 1999 and 2004 when the regional party was an ally of the BJP like it's today.
