DMK’s working president M.K. Stalin has asserted that the ruling BJP at the Centre can never hope to make inroads in the State at any given time.
True to the DMK and other political parties’ ritual of broaching politics at marriage functions, Stalin spoke on the issue while taking part at a marriage ceremony which took place at Sankarankoil in Tirunelveli District. Taking a dig at the ruling ‘unified’ AIADMK, he said that unlike in the AIADMK, it is difficult for DMK leaders to become chief-ministers at will.
“Only those who work for the party with dedication and sincerity can hope to become chief-minister one day. We in the DMK are not after getting power but are more for following the set principles and philosophies of the party on all occasions,” he said. On another note, he wondered about the fate of the many income-tax raids conducted in the State during February and after that.
Turning his attention to the BJP, he said that the BJP can never hope to make inroads in the State’s politics irrespective of its performance at the Centre and elsewhere. “People have been criticizing us (DMK) as to why it has ‘allowed’ the minority AIADMK regime to continue to rule the State. We want no back-door entry to power. Whether we are in power or not, DMK is the only party which cares for the people,” he said.
