BJP blames AAP for not taking pollution control measures in NCT of Delhi

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the ruling Aam Aaami Party (AAP) Govt. in the National Capital Territory of Delhi of failing miserably in trying to check pollution levels and take effective pollution control measures in the national capital and its surrounding localities.
In an unprecedented measure, schools and colleges remained closed for the past week in Delhi in view of the ‘high’ pollution levels. Environment activists and social service volunteers have warned that the city might report millions of cancer cases in future if effective pollution control measures are not put in place on a war-footing. Smoke emitted by vehicles has increased pollution levels to a never-before seen dimension.
Centre and the State Governments have been taking various measures to check pollution levels in Delhi. Volutneers have been indulging in spreading awareness about (not) creating smoke pollution and in distributing masks to the people. The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP Govt. implemented regulating two/four wheelers to run on streets only on specific days but this arrangement didn’t work out satisfactorily.
BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma blamed the AAP Govt. squarely for its all-round failure in checking pollution. “The Delhi Govt. didn’t pay heed to the warnings of the National Green Tribunal; it has also not implemented the vehicle-running system in a careful manner. State’s Pollution Control Board appears to have gone into a limbo, resulting in unprecedented high opollution levels,” said Nupur, an advocate-turned-BJP spokesperson.
