At a recent event, Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni acted as a protective friend to Bengal beauty Bipasha Basu, when the fans around them turned unruly.

The two celebrities along with cricket legend Kapil Dev were in Surat (Gujarat) on Monday for the inauguration of new five-star hotel The Grand Bhagwati. When they entered the venue, the excited crowd became totally unmanageable, which made the stars difficult to walk across the stage.

Taking control over the situation, Dhoni stepped in front of Basu, not giving much thought to his own safety and guided the actress protectively out of the mob.

Although the two managed to come out of it, Bipasha received a minor injury above her left eye.

But as they say, it pays to be a star…. Basu brushed off the whole thing casually, saying that it was nothing major. “There were just too many people and the security was outnumbered. But at the end everything was okay,” remarked the beauty.
