As violence against women and children is increasing day by day the courts are also giving out landmark judgments against the perpetrators however powerful they are. Bihar Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav has got life term imprisonment for raping a minor girl. The girl was tricked by a woman Sulekha into believing that she is attending a birthday party but to her utmost shock was taken to the MLA's residence on February 6th 2016 where she was violated by him.

Raj Ballabh Yadav was absconding for several months and tried to threaten the girl but It is worth mentioning that she wrote her matriculation exams inspite of fear for her life by the politician's goons. Yadav has been convicted under section 376 (punishment for rape) of Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) 2012
