Bigil show cancellation controversy - Theater management clarification

Thalapathy Vijay's 'Bigil' that released on October 25th during the Diwali weekend has taken a huge opening at the worldwide box office and is said to have collected over 200 Crores so far. The film directed by Atlee and produced by AGS Entertainment has music by A.R. Rahman and the starcast of Vijay, Nayanthara, Kathir, Indhuja, Amritha Aiyer, Reba Monica John, Varsha Bollamma, Yogi Babu, Vivek and Jackie Shroff.

News started doing the rounds that 'Bigil' shows were canceled in the famous Devi theater in Mount Road Chennai due to no crowd turning up and that the management has decided to remove the film and screen Karthi's 'Kaithi' in its place. The spokesperson for the theater complex has shared to the press that their Devi screen has a seating capacity of 900 Devi Paradise around 1100 while comparatively, the average multiplex has only 250 seats. Hence the collections of one week in a multiplex will be recovered within two days in these screens. They have further added that on the first week 'Bigil' was screened in both the big theaters but now from the second week it is available on Devi and the smaller Devi Kala theater while 'Kaithi' takes the big Devi Paradise screens. It is said that some persons with vested interests have spread false rumors that the shows were canceled due to sparse crowd but it was a logistical decision.
