It was during the Jallikattu protests in 2017 that Julie's photographs and videos went viral for her enthusiastic slogans against the ruling Tamil Nadu and central governments. The media limelight helped her into the 'Bigg Boss' show hosted by Kamal Haasan and where she first gained followers for her innocent behaviour but later became unpopular due to her inconsistency.
Julie in her recent social media interaction was asked by a fan why she is not taking up her former nursing profession and what she is currently doing. Julie has replied Everyone asks me this...I am into acting now..Nursing is a holy profession that needs full dedication..It is not possible to do nursing like other jobs as a freelancer...And handling two jobs at the same time is difficult coz shoots may make us go late for work and patients would be waiting...I cannot risk patients life."
Several films with Julie as the herone were announced including 'Anita MBBS' and 'Amman Thayee' but none has hit the screens so far excepting her cameos in 'Mannar Vagayara' and 'Naan Sirithaal'.
