Bigg Boss 14 contestant Rakhi Sawant has claimed since the beginning of the show that she has had a rocky marriage with her businessman husband Ritesh. During one of the final episodes of the season, Sawant was asked to tear the letter that she received from Ritesh on Christmas, in order to gain immunity from the last eviction of the season.

Sacrificing the letter after little thought, Rakhi Sawant said, "I love my husband and I got married with all my heart. I will be hurt after destroying it. But I also feel that what kind of a relationship I am in when I haven't met my husband for the last 2 years. I feel I have all the right to think about myself. If my husband would have helped me financially then I would have not come to Bigg Boss, tried again for my comeback, or would have been eager to earn money. But he did not help me, he did not pay my loans. I am still paying for money, he is only helping with insurance."

The actress added that she is going to prioritise her own life before her husband's letter and that she would break all ties with him as soon as she gets out of the Bigg Boss house. "I know this letter is from my husband. But the person who has not met me for two years, I feel I should think for myself. I feel I have come here for my comeback and find my independence again. The happiness I have seen between Rubina and Abhinav as a couple, I don't think that happiness exists in my married life. I have never felt it. My marriage has been a scam," she stated.
